Children may begin attending Children’s House Montessori once they are 2 years and 9 months old.
In a child’s first two years of Montessori, they learn how to develop independence through freedom of choice and freedom of movement. Children are free to work with materials that interest them, and they may explore a work as long as they like. Our daily, uninterrupted work period of up to 3 hours allows the child to follow their curiosity within the environment. This period fosters enthusiasm for self-directed learning. It also helps students build concentration skills needed for success in school and life.
Teachers serve as a link between children and the materials. Teachers offer lessons on new materials and gently guide students towards activities that may interest them.
When weather and temperature allow, first- and second-year children also enjoy daily outdoor time on our large playground. There, they can build in a sandbox, climb on our large wooden play structure, or just explore the natural environment. Children may also ride tricycles and 4-wheeled vehicles in a supervised area of the adjoining parking lot.
